2025 TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS
RULES
The 2025 Timepiece World Awards are awarded to recognize exceptional achievement globally in timepiece design and innovation in the Horology Industry. The finalist grouping of each category and winning selection of each finalist group are determined by a confidential vote of the selected Timepiece World award 2025 committee members and jurors.
The 2025 list of award-winners will be announced at the 1 st annual Timepiece World awards ceremony that will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025 in Toronto, Canada.
1.0 PARTICIPATION
1.1. Submitting an entry to the Timepiece World Awards, automatically implies consent to all articles laid out in these rules.
1.2. The Timepiece World Awards is open to all watch brands, irrespective of geographic
location or nationality.
1.3. Only timepieces commercialised and available between July 1st, 2024 and at the latest by June 30th, 2025 are eligible to take part in the 2025 Timepiece World Award program.
1.4. To participate, brands must submit their set of entries by 11:59 Eastern Time by July 20th, 2025 via the dedicated digital platform.
1.5. All entries proposed and submitted for consideration for the Timepiece World 2025 awards ceremony are submitted by the brands themselves or authorized related third parties representing the brand's interest.
1.6. Entries for the Timepiece World Awards competition can be made via the dedicated digital platform found on our website https://www.timepieceworld.com
1.7. Each brand may enter one or several timepieces in the competition (eight at the most) representing a variety of models and entered in different categories. A single given model may be entered in only one category.
1.8 All timepieces entered into the 2025 Timepiece World Awards must be powered via a mechanical, automatic movement or equivalent mechanical movement as their primary power source. Timepieces powered by battery operated and quartz movements are not eligible to participate in the 2025 Timepiece World Awards.
1.9. Brands are free to choose the category in which they enter each timepiece. Compliance of their entries with these rules is verified by the oversight committee of the 2025 Timepiece World Awards. It is the responsibility of the submitting brand that all entries meet the necessary criteria outlined for the 2025 Timepiece World Awards program for eligibility in each category.
1.10. The 12 categories are as follows:
1.10.01 - Time Only: watches with only two or three hands, bearing exclusively analogue time indications: hours, minutes, seconds. Sub/small seconds function is also acceptable in this
category.
1.10.02 - Chronograph: mechanical watches comprising at least one chronograph indication. Additional indications and/or complications are admissible.
1.10.03 - Sports: watches linked to the world of sport, whose functions, materials and design are suited to physical exercise.
1.10.04 - GMT/Worldtime Watches: watches that display hours, minutes, seconds and have the
ability to show time in another time zone or multiple time zones through mechanical function. A 12-hour rotating bezel does not qualify for this category.
1.10.05 - Tool Watches: watches designed to be utilized within a specific profession or that provide timekeeping within more extreme or challenging environments and professional roles. This may include the fields of (but are not limited to) military and law enforcement professions, diving, emergency services, aviation, medicine and any challenging environments where a timepiece can support its wearers respective role.
1.10.06 - Innovative Complication: watches that are remarkable in terms of their mechanical creativity and complexity. These watches may feature all kinds of classic and/or innovative complications and indications. Watches may exhibit a combination of novel or remarkable mechanical construction as well as innovative means of display and measurement of time within the overall design of the timepiece. This may also include a striking or any other acoustic function, a special or novel escapement, novel driven movements or comprising another original and/or exceptional horological concept.
1.10.07 - Exceptional Materials: watches utilizing novel or innovative usage of materials in their overall design and construction of the watch. This may include commonly used materials presented or finished in a unique manner or novel materials not commonly seen in timepiece construction and design.
1.10.08 - Jewellery and Artistic Craft: watches demonstrating exceptional mastery of the art of jewellery and gem setting including the choice of stones. Timepieces may also include within the design creative execution of enamelling, skeletonization work, enamelling, lacquering engraving and guilloché.
1.10.09 - Foundation: watches with a retail price equal to or under $2,500 US dollars or equivalent.
1.10.10 - Exception: watches with a retail price between $2,501 USD and 15,000 USD or equivalent.
1.10.11 - Pinnacle: watches with a retail price of $15,000 USD or equivalent and upwards.
1.10.12 - Special Category - People's Choice: this single award will be determined by attendee votes through a confidential voting platform at the Toronto Timepiece Show on Friday and Saturday, September 19th and 20th, 2025. Show attendees will have the opportunity to choose their favorite from within the group of finalists on display at the Toronto Timepiece Show. Only selected finalists will be eligible to be voted on by the public show attendees. Each attendee will be provided a single vote and the timepiece which receives the most votes will be awarded the People's Choice award.
2.0. AWARDS
2.1. The 2025 Timepiece World will issue one award for each of the above listed categories found in section 1.10.
2.2. Review and confirmation of category eligibility for all entrants will be determined by the 2025 Timepiece World Oversight Committee as entries are received. Entries that are found to not meet the minimum criteria outlined for a category’s entry requirements will not be included within the voting process.
2.3. For each category to qualify for an award to be given, each individual category must receive a minimum of 8 qualified entries to be included within the voting process for the 2025 Timepiece World Awards for that category. In the case where the minimum entry threshold is not achieved for a particular category, a full refund of the entry fee will be provided to the submitting party.
3.0. COMMITTEE AND JURY
3.1. The roles of both the committee and jury members are outlined within section 5.0. of the 2025 Timepiece World Awards
3.2. The listing of the 2025 Committee and Jury members of the 2025 Timepiece World Awards is available as of the end of May 2025 on the Timepiece World website.
3.3. Committee and Jury members are required and duty bound to respect the rules and to maintain strict confidentiality, thus guaranteeing their independence. Failure to comply with this article will be penalised by immediate exclusion from the 2025 Timepiece World Awards process without appeal.
4.0. 2025 TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
4.1. The 2025 Timepiece World Awards oversight committee is in place to ensure that registered entrants in each award category meet the minimum requirements for inclusion within the chosen category of their entry submission
4.2. The oversight committee ensures compliance with the rules and that competing timepieces meet admission criteria.
4.3. The oversight committee has no voting rights during the awards process
4.4. The names and details of the oversight committee for the 2025 Timepiece World Awards can be found on the Timepiece World website.
5.0. VOTING PROCEDURE First round Committee voting:
5.1. The timepieces entered in the competition will be voted on by the 2025 Timepiece World Awards committee. The committee members take part in the first round of voting via the Timepiece World Awards secure digital platform.
5.2. In the first round of voting, committee members select six timepieces per category and rank them according to their personal order of preference. The first timepiece gets eight points, the second six points, the third gets 5 points, the fourth gets 4 points, the fifth gets 3 points and the sixth receives 2 points.
5.3. The first round of voting serves to select six timepieces in each of the 11 categories. The selected finalist timepieces in each category will take part in the rest of the competition and in the various exhibitions.
5.4. The Timepiece World Awards program will not share individual committee members and jurors voting choices with any outside parties or brands. The votes are verified and recorded by a notary during the voting process. Second round Jury Voting:
5.5. A Jury of 7 members are involved in the second round of voting to determine each category winner for the 2025 Timepiece World Awards.
5.6. All jury members are also members of the committee and contribute to both the first and second round of voting.
5.7. The Jury members meet behind closed doors in Toronto, Canada, on the day prior to the awards ceremony, to physically evaluate each of the nominated timepieces and to proceed to the second secret ballot. There is open dialogue between the jury members to discuss their thoughts or the merits and feedback on the timepieces in each category they are evaluating. Subsequent voting is carried out by secret ballot post discussion and is not to be shared with other jurors or members of the public.
5.8. During the second round of voting, Jury members vote by secret ballot on each of the six timepieces nominated in the first round in each of the 11 categories, jurors rank and vote in order of their preference for the finalists. The first ranked timepiece gets eight points, the second six points, the third gets 5 points, the fourth gets 4 points, the fifth gets 3 points and the sixth receives 2 points.
5.9. In the finalist voting by the jury, in the event of a tie between two timepieces in a category, the vote of the Head Juror will count as double for that category to determine the final winner of that category.
5.10. A single brand cannot win more than four awards total in all categories of the 2025 Timepiece World Awards. A timepiece no longer eligible for a given category from a brand that has already won four prizes will be replaced by the one that came second in that category. Non eligibility for an award in the event of a brand reaching the 4-award limit will be determined by the sequential categories which have already been voted on by the jury and the category winner being that brand.
5.11. The names of the winners are revealed during the awards ceremony which will take place in Toronto, Canada on September 20th, 2025.
6.0. FINALIST REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 2025 TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS
6.1. The brands of timepieces selected as finalists as outlined in Section 5.0. of the 2025 Timepiece World Awards have specific responsibilities if selected as a finalist in one or more
categories
6.2. It is a requirement that the specific model watches chosen as finalists through secret ballot by the 2025 Timepiece Awards committee be made available for the jury deliberation which will take place on Friday, September 19th, 2025 the day before the 2025 Timepiece World Awards ceremony.
6.3. The selected brand finalists are responsible for ensuring their timepieces are present and in hand, in a timely manner so that the 2025 Timepiece World Awards jury may utilize the finalist timepieces in each of their category discussions and voting as well as display during September 19th and 20th at the event venue. Any courier fees and associated costs of transport including duties or customs fees are the sole responsibility of each respective finalist.
6.4 Timepieces that are part of the finalists group must be removed at the end of the awards evening on September 20th, 2025. by the respective brand representatives who are in attendance for the awards ceremony.
7.0. EXPENSES
7.1. The entry fee for the 2025 Timepiece World Awards is $600 Canadian per candidate
timepiece. This amount is intended to cover the administrative expenses relating to the entry and awards program. This fee is invoiced as soon as the entry or set of entries is received and approved by the oversight committee and must be settled immediately after the payment invoice is issued through our digital platform. The entry fee is nonrefundable with the exception if and only the minimum threshold number of entrants for the category is not reached as outlined in section 2.3..
7.2. If a candidate timepiece is selected by the awards committee as a finalist, no additional fees will be charged by the organizer, however the selected candidate brand must adhere to the requirements set out in section 6.0. above.
8.0. REFERENCES TO THE TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS
8.1. The Timepiece World Awards; and related trademarks are the sole property of the Timepiece World Awards program and media organization.
8.2. Nominated brands and award-winners are entitled to use this brand name and logo, provided they ensure strict compliance with the following restrictive conditions:
- The brand name and logo must only appear only in association with the nominated timepiece and/or the timepiece that won the prize and in a well-defined medium or context (whatever the nature or form of the latter), to the exclusion of any other timepiece in the same medium or within the same context. - Only logos expressly provided by the Timepiece World Awards to the nominated and/or winning brands – mentioning the year and corresponding to the nomination or the winning prize – may be used.
9.0. LEGAL OVERSIGHT OF THE VOTING AND AWARDS PROCESS9.1. The Timepiece World Awards for 2025 are subject to oversight by a third-party legal
representative to ensure adherence to the rules and voting process is followed appropriately:
