1.0 PARTICIPATION1.1 Submission of any entry to the
2026 Timepiece World Awards shall constitute full acceptance of, and agreement to abide by, all provisions, terms, and conditions set out within these official rules.
1.2 The
Timepiece World Awards is open to watch and timepiece brands of all sizes and origins, without restriction based on nationality, geographic market, or duration of operation.
1.3 To be eligible for the
2026 awards program, submitted timepieces must have been commercially launched and made available for sale between
July 1, 2025 and
June 30, 2026, inclusive.
For the purposes of these rules,
commercial launch shall be defined as the point at which the brand or its parent company has received its first financial consideration arising from the sale of the submitted timepiece, whether through wholesale distribution, authorized retail, or direct-to-consumer channels.
1.4 All entries must be submitted no later than
11:59 PM Eastern Time on July 15, 2026, using the official digital submission platform designated by the Timepiece World Awards.
1.5 All timepieces entered for consideration in the
2026 Timepiece World Awards must be submitted either directly by the brand itself or by an authorized third party acting on behalf of and with the consent of the brand. All submissions remain subject to review and formal approval by the
Timepiece World Awards Oversight Committee, and shall not be deemed active entries in the competition until such approval has been granted.
1.6 Entries must be submitted exclusively through the official online submission portal available via the Timepiece World website at
www.timepieceworld.com.
1.7 Each participating brand may submit
up to eight (8) timepieces for consideration across one or multiple award categories. A single model reference may be entered in
one category only and may not be submitted simultaneously in multiple classifications.
1.8 Except where otherwise expressly permitted under
Category 1.10.04 — Tool & Performance Watches, all timepieces entered into the
2026 Timepiece World Awards must be powered primarily by a
mechanical, automatic, or equivalent mechanically driven movement. Battery-powered, quartz, or electronically regulated movements are not eligible in any category other than

1.9 Participating brands retain discretion in selecting the category under which each timepiece is submitted as long as the timepiece meets the requirements as laid out in the category definition.
Final determination of category compliance and eligibility shall rest with the
Oversight Committee, which will review each submission against the published criteria.
The submitting brand bears sole responsibility for ensuring that all entries satisfy the applicable requirements of the
2026 Timepiece World Awards program and the eligibility standards of the chosen category.
1.10 CATEGORY DEFINITIONS1.10.01 — Time Only
This category is reserved for timepieces that embody the pure and fundamental expression of time through an analogue display.Eligible entries must display
hours and minutes, with an optional
central or subsidiary seconds indication.
No additional calendar, timing, or mechanical complications may be present.This category is intended to recognize excellence in the
design, proportion, finishing, and execution of essential timekeeping, allowing the purity of the watch’s form and mechanical expression to remain the central focus.
1.10.02 — ChronographThis category is dedicated to
mechanical timepieces incorporating an integrated chronograph function designed for the measurement of elapsed time.Eligible entries may include
sub-dials, auxiliary displays, or secondary complications, provided that the chronograph remains a
primary and defining feature of the timepiece.Assessment within this category shall place particular emphasis on
mechanical sophistication, legibility, usability, and overall design integration of the timing function.
1.10.03 — GMT / World TimeThis category applies to
mechanical timepieces capable of displaying time across multiple geographic regions through dedicated movement-based functionality.Eligible entries must provide an
independent, clearly indicated secondary time zone display, or the ability to display multiple time zones simultaneously.Timepieces relying solely on
external bezel-based indications without corresponding movement-based display functionality shall not be eligible for this category.Particular consideration shall be given to the
clarity, practicality, and ingenuity of the multi-time-zone execution.
1.10.04 — Tool & Performance WatchesThis category is reserved for
purpose-built timepieces engineered for active, professional, or highly demanding environments.Eligible entries shall include watches designed for
sport, exploration, professional field use, or specialized technical applications, where
durability, legibility, ergonomic comfort, and functional dependability are essential design considerations.Timepieces in this category may be intended for use in disciplines including, but not limited to:athletic and endurance performancediving and maritime applicationsaviation and navigationemergency and rescue servicesexploration and expedition usemedical or clinical environmentsmilitary and law-enforcement operationsIn all cases, the design, materials, and technical features must demonstrate a clear and credible connection to
real-world utility and performance requirements, rather than purely lifestyle-oriented styling.Pursuant to
Section 1.8, quartz and other battery-powered movements are expressly permitted within this category.
1.10.05 — Innovative ComplicationThis category recognizes timepieces distinguished by
original mechanical thinking and exceptional horological innovation.Eligible entries may include advances in
movement architecture, complication design, power transmission, acoustic functions, escapement systems, or novel methods of displaying and measuring time.This category is intended to celebrate both the
reinterpretation of traditional watchmaking principles and the introduction of
entirely new horological concepts, where innovation forms a central component of the watch’s identity.
1.10.06 — Exceptional MaterialsThis category is dedicated to timepieces that advance the art of watchmaking through the
innovative, unconventional, or technically distinguished use of materials.Eligible entries may include
novel alloys, composites, ceramics, carbon-based materials, proprietary metals, or pioneering material treatments and surface finishes.Evaluation shall consider how the selected materials contribute to
performance, durability, aesthetics, wearability, and originality.
1.10.07 — Jewellery & Artistic CraftThis category recognizes timepieces that demonstrate
exceptional artistic craftsmanship and decorative mastery.Eligible entries may incorporate
high jewellery techniques, gemstone setting, enamelling, engraving, guilloché, skeletonization, lacquering, marquetry, hand-painting, or other artisanal decorative disciplines.Judging shall focus on the
artistic execution, technical skill, originality, and aesthetic harmony of the timepiece as a complete work of horological art.
1.10.08 — FoundationThis category is reserved for timepieces positioned within an
accessible luxury price segment, with a recommended retail price of
USD $2,500 or below, or the equivalent in local currency.This category is intended to recognize outstanding
value, design excellence, innovation, and craftsmanship within entry-level and emerging luxury watchmaking.Special consideration may be given to brands and models that demonstrate
exceptional quality and creative distinction at an accessible price point.
1.10.09 — ExceptionThis category is designated for timepieces with a recommended retail price between
USD $2,501 and USD $15,000, or the equivalent in local currency.This category recognizes excellence within the
mid-to-upper luxury segment, with particular emphasis on
refined design, mechanical competence, finishing quality, and the strength of the brand’s creative identity.Entries should demonstrate a compelling balance of
craftsmanship, technical execution, and market positioning within this price range.
1.10.10 — AscensionThis category is reserved for timepieces with a recommended retail price between
USD $15,001 and USD $59,999, or the equivalent in local currency.This classification is intended to recognize watches that represent a
significant progression into the realm of high horology, distinguished by elevated craftsmanship, advanced technical sophistication, and a distinctive design language.Particular consideration shall be given to entries that reflect
brand-defining ambition, innovation, and a clear advancement in watchmaking artistry and mechanical complexity.
1.10.11 — PinnacleThis category is reserved for timepieces with a recommended retail price of
USD $60,000 and above, or the equivalent in local currency.This category represents the
highest echelon of watchmaking excellence, recognizing timepieces that embody exceptional mastery, rarity, exclusivity, and visionary execution.Eligible entries should demonstrate the summit of horological craftsmanship through
technical innovation, finishing, artistry, complication, material excellence, and overall creative vision.This category is intended to celebrate the most distinguished expressions of contemporary watchmaking at the highest level of the craft.
1.10.12 – Jurors SelectionA singular honour awarded at the discretion of the Jury to one timepiece that exemplifies exceptional achievement across design, innovation, craftsmanship, and overall horological impact. This category winner will be chosen by the 2026 Timepiece World Awards Jury through the closed and confidential discussion of the Jury members on Friday, September 25th 2026 and will not be determined by secret ballot and scoring as found in categories 1.10.01 through 1.10.11
1.10.13 - Special Category - People's ChoiceThis single award will be determined by attendee votes through a confidential voting platform at the Toronto Timepiece Show on Friday and Saturday, September 25th and 26th, 2026. Show attendees will have the opportunity to choose their favorite from within the group of finalists on display at the Toronto Timepiece Show. Only selected finalists will be eligible to be voted on by the public show attendees. Each attendee will be provided a single vote and the timepiece which receives the most votes will be awarded the People's Choice award.
2.0 AWARDS
2.1 The
2026 Timepiece World Awards shall confer
one award in each category listed under
Section 1.10.
2.2 All submitted entries shall be reviewed by the
Timepiece World Awards Oversight Committee upon receipt for the purpose of confirming category eligibility and compliance with the applicable entry criteria.
Any submission determined not to satisfy the minimum requirements of its selected category shall be deemed ineligible and shall not proceed to the voting stage.
2.3 In order for an award to be presented within any given category, that category must receive more than a single entry.
Should a category fail to meet this minimum threshold, the category shall be withdrawn from the current awards cycle and the full entry fee shall be refunded to the submitting party.
3.0 COMMITTEE AND JURY3.1 The respective responsibilities, authority, and functions of the
Committee and
Jury are set out in detail under
Section 5.0 of these rules.
3.2 The final list of names and biographies of the
2026 Committee and Jury members shall be published on the
Timepiece World website no later than the end of
April 2026.
3.3 All Committee and Jury members are required to adhere strictly to these rules and are bound by a duty of
absolute confidentiality in relation to the evaluation and voting process, thereby safeguarding the integrity and independence of the awards.
Any breach of this obligation shall result in
immediate removal from the 2026 Timepiece World Awards process, without right of appeal.
4.0 2026 TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
4.1 The
Oversight Committee is established to verify that all submitted entries satisfy the minimum eligibility and category-specific requirements for participation in the
2026 Timepiece World Awards.
4.2 The Oversight Committee is responsible for ensuring full compliance with these rules and for confirming that all competing timepieces meet the established admission criteria.
4.3 Members of the Oversight Committee shall hold
no voting rights at any stage of the awards process.
4.4 The names, titles, and relevant details of the Oversight Committee members shall be made available on the
Timepiece World website.
5.0 VOTING PROCEDUREFirst Round — Committee Voting
5.1 All eligible timepieces entered into the competition shall be reviewed and scored by the
2026 Timepiece World Awards Committee during the first round of voting.
Committee members shall cast their votes through the
secure Timepiece World Awards digital platform.
5.2 During the first round, Committee members shall select
five (5) timepieces per category and rank them according to their personal order of preference.

5.3 The purpose of the first round is to determine the
five finalists in each of the eleven (11) categories.
These selected finalists shall advance to the next stage of the competition and may also be included in associated exhibitions and official awards programming.
5.4 Individual voting selections made by Committee members and Jurors shall remain strictly confidential and shall not be disclosed to participating brands or any external parties.
All votes shall be independently verified and formally recorded by a
notary throughout the voting process.
Second Round — Jury Voting
5.5 The second round of voting shall be conducted by a
Jury composed of eight (8) members, whose role is to determine the final winner in each category of the
2026 Timepiece World Awards.
5.6 All Jury members shall also serve as members of the Committee and therefore participate in both the first and second rounds of voting.
5.7 The Jury shall convene
in Toronto, Canada, on the day preceding the awards ceremony for the purpose of physically examining each finalist timepiece and conducting the second round of deliberations.
Jurors may engage in open discussion regarding the merits, craftsmanship, design, technical execution, and overall significance of each nominated timepiece.
Following such discussion, all subsequent voting shall be conducted by
secret ballot.
Individual votes shall remain confidential and shall not be disclosed to fellow jurors beyond the formal process, nor to any member of the public.
5.8 During the second round, members of the Jury members shall rank the
five (5) finalist timepieces in each of the eleven (11) categories in order of preference.

3 pointsThe finalist receiving the highest total score within each category shall be declared the category winner.
5.0 VOTING PROCEDURE (continued)
5.9 In the event that the final Jury vote results in a tie between two timepieces within the same category, the vote cast by the
Head Juror for that category shall carry
double weighting for the sole purpose of determining the final award recipient.
5.10 No single brand may receive more than
four (4) awards in total across all categories of the
2026 Timepiece World Awards.
Where a brand has already reached this maximum number of awards, any additional category in which that brand would otherwise be declared the winner shall instead be awarded to the
next highest-ranked finalist in that category.
Eligibility under this limitation shall be determined according to the
sequential order in which categories are voted upon and finalized by the Jury.
5.11 The names of all category winners shall remain strictly confidential until formally announced during the
awards ceremony in Toronto, Canada, on September 26, 2026.
6.0 FINALIST REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 2026 TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS
6.1 Brands whose submitted timepieces are selected as finalists pursuant to
Section 5.0 shall be subject to the obligations and requirements set out in this section.
6.2 It is a mandatory condition of finalist status that the exact model references selected through the Committee’s secret ballot be made available for
in-person Jury evaluation on Friday, September 25, 2026, being the day immediately preceding the awards ceremony.
6.3 Finalist brands are solely responsible for ensuring that their nominated timepieces are delivered and available in a timely manner for use during Jury deliberations, category discussions, and final voting, as well as for official display at the event venue on
September 25 and 26, 2026.
All shipping, courier, insurance, customs, duties, and related transportation expenses shall be borne exclusively by the respective finalist brand.
6.4 All finalist timepieces displayed as part of the awards program must be collected and removed from the venue by the attending brand representative or appointed representative
at the conclusion of the awards ceremony on September 26, 2026.
7.0 FEES AND EXPENSES
7.1 The entry fee for the
2026 Timepiece World Awards shall be
CAD $600 per submitted candidate timepiece.
This fee is intended to cover the administrative, review, and operational costs associated with the awards program.An invoice shall be issued once the submitted entry or entries have been reviewed and approved by the
Oversight Committee, and payment shall be due immediately upon issuance through the official digital platform.Except as expressly provided under
Section 2.3, the entry fee shall be
non-refundable.A refund shall be issued only in the event that the relevant category fails to meet the minimum entry threshold required for that category to proceed.
7.2 No additional fee shall be charged if a candidate timepiece is selected as a finalist.
However, all finalist brands must comply fully with the obligations and logistical requirements set out in
Section 6.0.
8.0 REFERENCES TO THE TIMEPIECE WORLD AWARDS
8.1 The name
Timepiece World Awards, together with all associated trademarks, logos, insignia, and visual identity elements, shall remain the sole and exclusive property of the
Timepiece World Awards program and its affiliated media organization.
8.2 Nominated brands and award recipients are granted a limited right to reference the
Timepiece World Awards name and logo, strictly subject to the following conditions:such references may be used
only in direct association with the nominated or award-winning timepiecesuch references must not be used in connection with any other model, collection, or unrelated brand communication within the same medium or contextonly official logos, insignia, and award marks expressly supplied by the
Timepiece World Awards, including the relevant award year and nomination or winner designation, may be usedAny use outside these conditions shall require prior written authorization.
9.0 LEGAL OVERSIGHT OF THE VOTING AND AWARDS PROCESS
9.1 The
2026 Timepiece World Awards shall be conducted under the supervision of an independent third-party legal representative for the purpose of ensuring that all voting procedures, category determinations, and awards decisions are carried out in accordance with these rules.
